Praise for Restoration:
“Caron Kamps
Widden’s novel is a vivid portrait of a family struggling to
survive after a tragedy. Beautifully written, it is threaded with
emotional truth as the main characters restore an old home and
rebuild their lives.”
~Lisbeth
Thom, author of Row Away From the Rocks.
Restoration was
mentioned in ZYZZYVA'S Winter Edition 2006. Many
thanks to Founding Editor, Howard Junker, for his continued
support. You can visit ZYZZYVA at
www.zyzzyva.org. A
wonderful literary magazine featuring West Coast writers.

“Caron Kamps
Widden restores my faith in the domestic novel, the novel of
ordinary people and their ordinary struggles and glories and
passions, the novel written in clear, compelling prose, the novel
you keep reading because you want to find out what happens to
characters you have come to care about.”
~Howard
Junker, Editor of Zyzzyva.

Zoetrope: All-Story,
Francis Ford Coppola's, award winning literary magazine offers

Some years back, a
short piece I wrote was published in a small college journal
called Spindrift. Every year they do a fabulous job
coordinating art, photography and written word onto glossy pages.
My work, And Then There Was Light, was featured with a
beautiful photograph submitted by a college student. I'm a
huge fan of small literary journals which provide a forum for
emerging writers. This obscure journal is particularly good.

Caron attended her
first
Malice Domestic Convention in Arlington, VA the weekend of
4/21/06. Malice Domestic is an annual event for authors,
publishers and fans of mysteries in the classic tradition.
Even though Restoration is a work of literary fiction,
Caron still wanted to travel to Malice XVIII to meet, in person,
her publishers and fellow authors at Hilliard and Harris.
Two authors from Hilliard and Harris were nominated for an Agatha
Award, a big honor in the mystery world. A great weekend and
highly recommended for anyone who loves mysteries. For more information about the convention, please
visit the Malice Domestic website:

Club Update:
The book clubs I
visited this summer were a real kick! I was welcomed and
made to feel right at home discussing Restoration with
thoughtful readers who love to analyze the pages they read and get
to the heart of the meaning. I was fascinated listening to
their observations and have drawn so much from their
feedback...it's a great way for a writer to expand their craft to
new levels. The Reno group opened my mind to the importance
of writing from the heart, how the story seemed to touch them
emotionally and personally. Plus, we were sitting in a
beautiful dining room with breathtaking views of lit-up Reno.
Wow. Two other groups I visited actually had names for their
clubs: LYLAS (Love Ya Like A Sister) and Wild Women Who Like
To Read -- Book Babes (This group even had T-shirts! And
believe me, they live up to their name!)...they've all met for
years and not only discuss the books they read, but are great
friends who support each other in many ways. Very inspiring
-- they know how to have fun, yet take their reading seriously and
the food...delicious. If you're not in a book club, I highly
recommend joining one, it will stretch your reading list and you
might just make a new friend or two.
